Privacy Policy

Version 1.0Effective from 1 October 2026

The short version

QITAF Events has no accounts, no sign-in, no forms, no payments, no advertising and no analytics. It never asks for your name, email, phone number, ID or location. To deliver event content and update notices, it only needs the limited technical information that any internet connection involves — described below, in full.

  1. Who we are

    The QITAF Events application (the “App”) is owned by Qitaf Educational Company, Doha, State of Qatar (“Qitaf”, “we”, “us”), which is responsible for the information described in this policy. Qitaf publishes the App on the Apple App Store and Google Play and operates it and its servers. Anyone who provides technical services to Qitaf for the App handles technical information only to run it, and only on Qitaf’s instructions.

    This policy applies to the App and to its public web pages — this Privacy Policy, the Terms and Conditions and the Support page. It does not apply to event websites or to any other website the App opens.

  2. How the App works

    Qitaf publishes the App’s content — events, agenda, speakers, sponsors, partners and these policies — from a content management system on servers operated for Qitaf. The App downloads that content over an encrypted connection and keeps a copy on your device, so it still opens with a weak signal or none. When Qitaf publishes a change, a notification service sends the App a signal to download the latest content. Nothing you read, tap or do inside the App is reported back to us.

  3. What we do not collect

    The App does not ask for, collect or store:

    • your name, email address, phone number, ID or passport number;
    • your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone;
    • payment or banking details;
    • advertising identifiers, your browsing history, or your activity inside the App.

    The App contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking tools and no social-media trackers. We do not sell, rent or trade any information, and we do not build profiles or make automated decisions about anyone.

  4. Technical information handled automatically

    Three kinds of technical information are handled, only because the App cannot work without them:

    Content requests. Each time the App downloads or checks for content, our server receives what every internet request carries: your device’s IP address, the date and time, the address requested, and basic technical details the App sends — the App version, the operating system and the language you chose. We use this only to deliver content in the right language, to keep the service secure (for example, by limiting abusive traffic) and to diagnose faults. We do not use it to identify you, and we do not combine it with any other information.

    Update notices. The App uses Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service, to receive update signals and announcements. Firebase gives each installation of the App a random registration token, and the App subscribes itself to general topics only — all users, your chosen language, and the event you open. Qitaf keeps no list of devices or tokens, and cannot send a message to, or identify, any individual. Google processes the token under its own terms and privacy policy.

    On your device. The App stores the content and images it has downloaded, your chosen language and theme, and whether it has asked you about notifications. This stays on your device and we cannot see it. It is removed when you clear the App’s data or uninstall it.

  5. Notifications and your choice

    Visible notifications — such as a session reminder or an announcement — appear only if you allow them. The App asks at a relevant moment, not when you first open it, and does not keep asking if you decline. You can change your choice at any time in your device settings. Content-refresh signals may reach the App silently so that it stays up to date; they carry no personal information. The App works fully without notification permission.

  6. Device permissions

    The App needs internet access and, if you allow it, permission to show notifications. It requests no access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, files or phone calls. Tapping a phone number, email address or WhatsApp button hands over to the relevant app on your device only when you choose to.

  7. Websites and third-party services

    Registration, the event website, partner websites and official pages open in a browsing window inside the App or in your browser. Whatever you enter there — including when you register for an event — is handled by that website under its own privacy policy, not this one. Email, phone and WhatsApp are handled by those apps and their providers.

    Apple and Google collect installation and download data, and — where you have allowed it on your device — crash and performance data, under their own policies. Qitaf receives from them only aggregated statistics that identify no one.

  8. Legal basis and applicable law

    We handle the limited technical information described above for the legitimate purpose of providing, securing and maintaining the App, in accordance with Law No. (13) of 2016 on the Protection of Personal Data Privacy of the State of Qatar and the guidance issued under it by the competent authorities. We process only what is necessary for that purpose, and for no other.

  9. Where information is processed

    The App’s servers are hosted by a hosting provider, and Firebase is operated by Google. Their infrastructure may be located inside or outside the State of Qatar. Where technical information is processed outside Qatar, only what is needed is transferred, and it is protected by encryption in transit and by the providers’ contractual and security safeguards.

  10. Security

    All communication between the App and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Access to the content management system is limited to named, authorised staff, protected by strong passwords, lockout after repeated failed attempts and two-factor authentication, and every change is recorded. Backups are encrypted.

    No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. If an incident affecting personal data occurs, we will act promptly to contain it, and we will notify the competent authority and anyone affected where the law requires it.

  11. How long we keep information

    • Server request logs: up to 90 days, then deleted — kept longer only where needed to investigate a specific security incident.
    • Notification records (message text, time sent and delivery count): kept as an operational record; they contain no personal information.
    • Messages you send to support: as long as needed to resolve your request, and no longer than 12 months, unless the law requires otherwise.
    • Information on your device: until you clear the App’s data or uninstall it.
  12. Your rights

    Under Qatari law you may ask us whether we process personal data about you, and request access to it, its correction or its deletion, or object to its processing. Because the App has no accounts and we cannot link technical logs to a named person, we may be unable to find information relating to you — but we will look, and we will reply within 30 days.

    To remove everything the App holds on your device, clear its data or uninstall it; there is no account to delete. You also have the right to complain to the competent authority for personal data protection in the State of Qatar.

  13. Children

    The App is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children, and shows no advertising. A parent or guardian with a question can contact us using the details below.

  14. Changes to this policy

    We may update this policy when the App or the law changes. The current version is always published on this page and inside the App, with its version number and effective date. If a change is significant — for example, a new kind of information being processed — we will announce it in the App before it takes effect.

  15. Language

    This policy is published in Arabic and English. If the two differ, the Arabic text prevails.
